Hosted by Ben Lillie and Paula Croxson at Caveat with special appearances by Caveat performers and staff - and some new faces! Doors at 6:30 pm, show at 7:00 pm.

Carlos Maza is a video journalist focusing on misinformation, media bias, and propaganda. He is the Director of Video at Media Matters for America. He has spent too much of his adult life writing about fascism and hate speech. He would much rather you tell him about you Dungeons & Dragons character.

 

Jerzy Gwiazdowski has appeared on Broadway, WAY off-Broadway, on television, in film, and in one Bon Jovi music video. His scripts have been produced on four continents. Jerzy is an 8x first-place trophy winner at the O.Henry Pun-Off World Championships and the all-time winningest competitor at NYC’s Punderdome (for now). He has been a guest lecturer at the Actors Studio Drama School and NSKI Høyskole (Norway) and currently teaches at the New School for Drama.

 

Deandra Anjahlee is a community centered educator, leader, and fresh storyteller. She is a proud Brooklynite with Caribbean roots. Themes of identity and equity ground her work on and off stage. She is passionate about creating safe spaces for intergenerational learning, growth and joy. Her storytelling evokes laughter, nostalgia, and encourages introspection. When she’s not on stage, you can find her sneaking explicit music in at your kid’s prom, or catching the last bits of sunlight in Prospect Park.

 

Andrew Barnes is a budding biologist hoping to work in ecological restoration after graduation in December! He currently works in veterinary medicine and while he loves animals, his true passion is habitats big and small. He wants to remind you that's it's never too late to pursue what you are passionate about!

 

Maya Theresia is a scientist, storyteller and artist. At Tufts University, Maya earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering with a minor in computer science, while sneaking in art classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts whenever she could. In 2021, Maya began her post-baccalaureate training in the Peron Lab at NYU. As a Senior Research Associate, she is studying how circuits in the somatosensory cortex drive tactile perception and influence behavior in mice. Outside of lab, you can find Maya painting portraits and filmmaking. Currently, Maya is developing a podcast featuring early career scientists unleashing their curiosity at Happy Hour. Check out Science After Hours at www.scienceafterhourspod.com, which is set to launch in Winter 2024.
