Leslie Berntsen

Leslie is a nationally-recognized psychology professor specializing in inclusive pedagogy and teaching for social justice. Outside of the classroom, she is passionate about giving social science away to the public and advocating for empirically-informed policy change on campus and on the national level. She has spoken at the National Institute for the Teaching of Psychology, the National Sexual Assault Conference, and Reclaiming STEM (a science communication and science policy workshop for marginalized scientists by marginalized scientists) and currently serves as the Inaugural Chair of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology's Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing at the beach, hanging out with her two rehabilitated street pups (ask about them!), and unabashedly living up to her high school superlative: "Most Likely to Color-Code Her Plans to Grassroots Resistance." Her students say her tweets are funny and she has been riding that high ever since: @leslie_bern.
