The Story Collider is a weekly podcast featuring true, personal stories about science.

The stories featured on our award-winning podcast are recorded at our live events across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. (and occasionally other countries that we have the honor to visit). Fewer than half of the stories recorded at Story Collider’s live shows are aired on the podcast, and they’re selected by our team based on the strength of their story arc and scenes, their relevance to science, and diversity of perspective.

The goal of our podcast, like our shows, is to reveal the vibrant role that science plays in all of our lives through storytelling, so it’s important to us to share not only stories about scientific work but also stories about the science that impacts all of us in our everyday lives. Our storytellers range from PhD scientists to journalists, teachers, firefighters, bartenders, and everything in between.

The Story Collider podcast is downloaded about 1 million times each year. The Washington Post has called it “delightful, devastating, and endlessly listenable,” and we have also been featured in the New York Times’s “7 Podcasts About the Wonders of Science.” Especially dear to our hearts -- a 2017 study in Journal of Life Sciences Education found that college students who listened to our stories came away with a better grade in the class, increased interest in science, and a vision of a possible future in it for themselves. To learn more about how Story Collider stories, and other stories like ours, can be used in the classroom, visit the Scientist Spotlights Initiative.
