I’m very happy to share some good news from Story Collider’s Board of Directors: Dr. Paula Croxson has been elected President of our Board. Paula has been part of the Story Collider community since 2017, and it’s hard to imagine someone more deeply connected to this work.
Many of you know Paula as the co-host of our quarterly live show at Caveat in New York City, which she hosts alongside Dr. Diana Li. Over the years, she has also told several stories at Story Collider (and beyond!) — stories that are honest, funny, and grounded in what it’s actually like to live and work in science. (One of those stories will be featured in an upcoming episode of the Story Collider podcast, and we’re excited to share it with you next week!)
Paula began her career as a neuroscientist before finding her way into storytelling and falling in love with science communication. She’s deeply passionate about public engagement and about creating spaces where people can connect with science in ways that feel meaningful, accessible, and human. After shifting her focus to science communication, Paula held roles at Columbia University and the Dana Foundation, and she is currently president of Stellate Communications. That background and perspective have shaped her involvement with Story Collider from the very beginning, and make her a natural fit for the role of Board Chair.
Paula succeeds Dr. Krishna Pakala as Board Chair. We’re deeply grateful to Krishna for his leadership, generosity, and steady presence during an important chapter for Story Collider.
We’re also pleased to share that Ross Heinemeyer has been re-elected as Treasurer and Dr. Ana Maria Porras has been re-elected as Secretary. We’re grateful for their continued service and care for the organization.
