Los Angeles, CA - Into the Unknown

  • LAist 474 South Raymond Avenue Pasadena, CA, 91105 United States (map)

Join us for an unforgettable night of true, personal stories about stepping into the unknown—and discovering what’s waiting on the other side. From unexpected nights in the wilderness and frightening encounters to family revelations and adventures beneath the waves, our storytellers face situations they never saw coming. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, a little nerve-wracking, and proof that sometimes the best stories begin when you have absolutely no idea what happens next.

Hosted by Bryan Kett.

Doors at 6:30 pm. Show starts at 7:00 pm.

Stories by:

Neeti Jain is an environmental scientist and storyteller, working at the intersection of climate, sustainable food systems, and narrative change. Her decade of experience in the field spans environmental education and advocacy, public engagement, and systems thinking in both professional and academic settings. As a National Science Foundation Fellow, Neeti led justice-centered storytelling initiatives at major natural history museums, centering equity within environmental narratives and informal education. Her work has been featured on podcasts, national public radio, TV, and print magazines, and she has published articles in Curator and the Journal of Zoo and Aquarium Research. Neeti holds degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Chicago and Environmental Science from Yale University. She is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University and a senior producer at the Story Collider, where she teaches scientists to use the power of narratives to change the world. A Los Angeles native, Neeti has made her way across the three coasts and now spends her time lurking around the underwater dioramas at the American Museum of Natural History.

Carlos Kotkin. Writer. Comedian. Storyteller. Left-handed. Owner of a black cat. Winner of 11 Moth storySLAMS and 3 Moth grandSLAMS. Now hosts The Moth in Los Angeles. Big fan of science. And chickens. Thrilled to be here.

Victoria Kelleher has been an actor in LA for (insert number that doesn’t age her) years. And, not to brag, but she has over 60 IMBD credits... She premiered her Solo Show DADDY ISSUES last year at the Hollywood Fringe and recently decided to start doing stand up comedy because she was getting just a little too confident…

Leaving the serene Minnesota landscape for the bright lights of Hollywood. Her versatility as an actress has seen her grace both the small and big screens with equal finesse. Victoria is an anomaly in this fickle acting business, making her living for over twenty-five years. Whether she's delivering punchlines in comedies like FRIENDS, LOOT and GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE , stealing scenes in films like GHOSTED with Chris Evans, or showing up on hit TV shows like THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT, THE OFFER, or recurring as NCIS Accountant Barbara Dursley.

Carlos Gauna: I’m a professional cinematographer, photographer, diver, & natural history storyteller based in Southern California. Whether I’m flying a drone, diving beneath the surface, or filming from the shoreline, my mission is simple: to capture the raw, untold stories of the ocean — especially great white sharks — and share them with the world. I film sharks for NatGeo, BBC, NetFlix, Shark Week, and various media around the world.
